Composition

The Commission shall consist of:

(a)the President of I Dipåttamenton I Kaohao Guinahan CHamoru (the Department of CHamoru Affairs) or a representative who is fluent and proficient in the CHamoru language and actively engaged in its promotion and preservation;

(b)two

(2)members from I Unibetsedåt Guåhan (the University of Guam) and two

(2)members from the Guam Department of Education Dibision Inestudion yan I CHamoru Espisiåt na Prugråma Siha (CHamoru Studies and Special Projects Division) who are fluent and proficient in the CHamoru language, and active in its cultivation and preservation through either education or through involvement in their institutions’ respective CHamoru language programs;

(c)two

(2)members, appointed by the Legislative chairperson with oversight over culture/cultural affairs, who are fluent and proficient in the CHamoru language, and have been actively engaged in its promotion and preservation; and CH. 88 I KUMISION I FINO’ CHAMORU YAN I FINA’NÅ’GUEN I HISTORIA YAN I LINA’LA’I TAOTAO TÅNO (THE COMMISSION ON CHAMORU LANGUAGE AND THE TEACHING OF THE HISTORY AND CULTURE OF THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLE OF GUAM)

(d)two

(2)members appointed by I Maga’hågan/Maga’låhen Guåhan who are fluent and proficient in the CHamoru language, and actively engaged in its promotion and preservation; and

(e)one

(1)non-voting youth member, selected by I Kongresson Manhoben Guåhan, who shall be a resident of Guam, who shall be fourteen

(14)to twenty-five

(25)years of age at the time of selection, who shall be an enrolled student at the University of Guam, the Guam Community College, or any secondary public/private school on Guam, to include home and charter schools, at the time of selection, and who shall be fluent and proficient in the CHamoru language and actively engaged in its promotion and preservation.
