Officers May Perform Notarial Acts

Any commissioned officer of the Armed Forces of the United States, while on active duty, who is authorized to administer oaths by the Uniform Code of Military Justice, may administer oaths and affirmations, take depositions, affidavits and acknowledgements of deeds, grants, transfers and other instruments of writing, and powers of attorney, of any person who for the time being is on active duty with the Armed Forces of the United States, in the same manner as a Notary Public. Any oath or affirmation administered, or deposition or affidavit taken, or acknowledgment certified by such officer hereunder, if otherwise in accordance with law, shall be effectual for all purposes as if administered, taken or certified by a Notary Public appointed and commissioned under this Chapter.
