Purpose

In accordance with the powers conferred upon it by Article 1 of this Article and in conjunction with its responsibilities as a "public housing agency" within the meaning of the Federal Housing Act of 1937, as amended, as a "local public agency" within the meaning of Title I of the Federal Housing Act of 1949, as amended, the Board of Commissioners of Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority is directed to take cognizance of the unmet housing needs for persons of low and moderate income in the communities of Umatac, Merizo, Inarajan, Talofofo and Agat-Santa Rita. In order to help alleviate the serious shortage of safe, sanitary and decent housing which exists for persons of low and moderate incomes in those communities, the Board of Commissioners shall request the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for permission to situate the one hundred ninety-five

(195)low income housing units which have been authorized for construction funding on Guam during federal fiscal year 1979 in the aforesaid communities according to the following distribution: COMMUNITY NUMBER OF HOMES Umatac Merizo COL4122017 CH. 5 GUAM HOUSING AND URBAN RENEWAL AUTHORITY Inarajan Talofofo Agat-Santa Rita
