Emergency Treatment Initiated by Others

(a)Any psychiatrist, other physician, or qualified mental health professional as designated pursuant to § 82101(g) of Chapter 82, who has been generally designated to do so by the government of Guam or GBHWC may initiate emergency treatment/observation based on a good faith belief that because of a severe psychiatric disorder a person is either a danger to himself or herself, a danger to others, or gravely disabled.

(b)Any such person who determines the need for emergency treatment/observation but who is not authorized to transport such individuals to a psychiatric facility may direct any person enumerated in § 82A1303 to do so. 2015 SOURCE: Subsection designations added pursuant to authority granted by 1 GCA § 1606.
