10 GCA § 2103

Duties Generally

It shall be the duty of the Director to:

(a)administer public assistance and child welfare services in Guam, and in accord therewith to adopt such rules and regulations subject to the approval of I Maga’håga/Maga’låhi, as may be necessary or desirable.

(b)cooperate with the federal government in carrying out the purposes of the Social Security Act in matters pertaining to public welfare, public assistance and child welfare services;

(c)pay medical claims of indigent persons as they are defined in and in accordance with the guidelines and the cost-sharing program developed pursuant to Article 9 of this Chapter; and

(d)exercise the opt out provision in Section 115 of the Federal Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996, 21 U.S.C. § 862a(d)(1)(A).
