Qualification for Licensure; Dietitian or Nutritionist

(a)Licensed Dietitian. The applicant for licensure as a dietitian shall:

(1)Provide evidence of current registration as a Registered Dietitian

(RD)by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR); or

(2)[No text]

(A)Have received a baccalaureate or postgraduate degree from a college or university, accredited by a regional accrediting body recognized by the Council on Post-Secondary Accreditation, with a major in dietetics, human nutrition, nutrition education, community nutrition, public health nutrition, foods and nutrition, or an equivalent major course of study, as approved by the Board. Applicants who have obtained their education outside of the United States and its territories must have their academic degree validated by the Board as equivalent to a baccalaureate or masters degree conferred by a regionally accredited college or university in the United States; CH. 12 MEDICAL PRACTICES - PART II

(B)Have satisfactorily completed a program of supervised clinical experience approved by the CDR; and

(C)Have passed the registration examination for dietitians administered by the CDR.

(b)Licensed Nutritionist. The applicant for licensure as a nutritionist shall:

(1)meet the requirements of Subsections (a)(1) or

(2)of this Section; or

(2)has qualified as a diplomate of the American Board of Nutrition, or as a Certified Nutrition Specialist with the Certification Board for Nutrition Specialists, or has received a master’s or doctoral degree from an accredited college or university with a major in human nutrition, public health nutrition, clinical nutrition, nutrition education, community nutrition or food and nutrition, and has completed a documented work experience in human nutrition or human nutrition research of at least 900 hours.

(c)Waiver of fees. All fees for application and license in part

(b)of this Section will be waived for all applicants who are currently licensed under part

(a)of this Section.
