Tenure and Compensation of Members
View official PDF ↗The term of office of each member of the Commission shall be four
(4)years or until his successor is appointed, except that the terms of office of the members first taking office shall expire as designated by I Maga’lahen Guåhan at the time of appointment as follows: one
(1)at the end of one
(1)year, one
(1)at the end of two
(2)years, one
(1)at the end of three
(3)years, and two
(2)at the end of four
(4)years. Any member appointed to fill the vacancy occurring prior to the expiration of the term for which his or her predecessor was appointed, shall be appointed for the remainder of the term. A vacancy in the Commission shall not affect its powers. If any member of the Commission is unable to act because of absence, illness or other sufficient cause, I Maga’lahen Guåhan may make a temporary appointment, and such appointee shall have all the powers and duties of a regular member of the Commission for the period of their appointment.
