Recruitment of Assistant Attorneys General

Not-withstanding any other provision of law, the Attorney General may hire Assistant Attorneys General necessary for the operation of the department. Attorneys shall be hired for an initial two-year probationary period in the unclassified service, which shall by the term of the appointment expire two years from the date of the appointment if not sooner terminated by the appointing authority. Attorneys reappointed after completion of their probationary period shall be employed in the unclassified service as provided under Section 4102(16) of Chapter 4 of this Title and may be removed only for cause. Attorneys presently in the classified service shall remain classified.
